Barbour – Collaborations

It’s been a 125 years since J.Barbour started his company, since then the brand has been at the forefront of innovative outwear.
This year Barbour have gone all out with their collaborations, teaming up with the likes of British designer, Margaret Howell, Japanese contemporary fashion house, Engineered Garments and Manchester based, Hikerdelic to bring us some timeless pieces with a twist. Here at Woodhouse we are lucky enough to have the Engineered Garment and Hickerdelic collabs, and with the Made for Japan collection, that offers a nice point of difference from the classic Barbour collection.

Engineered Garments

Based in New York, birthed in Japan, Engineered Garments or EG, is an outerwear and sportswear powerhouse. Whilst not the most recognized brand those in the fashion world are very much aware of the brands appeal. The collaboration with Barbour is a matched made in heaven, EG is the modern contemporary brand with Barbour the historical giant, both are masters of outerwear. The jackets in the collection boast key features from both brands, combining to create brilliant hooded waxed jackets with loads of utility pockets.

Hikerdelic

Manchester based Hikerdelic are new brand that look to capitalise on the rise in hiker-chic style, so a collab with Barbour would seem to be an ideal pairing. The brand is from the minds behind, Proper Mag and started as a bit of a running joke within the publication but as SS19 came around the joke is now a standalone brand. Hikerdelic, looks to combine the world of rambling the Manchester moors with the raving culture the city has had a long standing affinity with. Their collab with Barbour hits the nail on the head; you’ll find classic Barbour silhouettes with a twist, the colourway is a patchwork of navy, olive green & tan.

Made for Japan (White Label)

As you may have gathered, Barbour’s White Label is made for the Japanese market. What you’ll find in this collection is less of the country style, so you will find less tartan linings; the cut is also slightly smaller and has a much more youthful vibe. With 125 years of experience and heritage these jackets are crafted using this knowledge in mind, creating the long lasting longevity you would expect.
