Barbour x Norse Projects

This season we’re excited to welcome the launch of the Barbour x Norse Projects AW20 collaboration. The collab highlights the rich and iconic heritage of Barbour with the Nordic minimalism of Norse Projects creating a variety of striking contemporary outdoor pieces.

While most of us are familiar with Barbour, Norse Projects for many is an unknown entity, but one well worth knowing. Founded in 2004 Norse Projects is a Copenhagen based contemporary clothing brand specialising in clear-cut minimalist Scandinavian design. Norse Projects has drawn upon its Scandinavian roots to inform a design language that supports an infrastructure for a highly adaptable wardrobe. This collaboration is no different as Norse Projects explore the Barbour archive to create a functional outdoor collection.

The collection itself is comprised of a variety of Jackets, knitwear, soft cotton jersey, and accessories such as bucket hats, holdall bags and wellington boots. The colour palette itself is autumn & winter-friendly, relying on primarily neutral colours with splashes of bright orange to create a variety of clean but rousing silhouettes.

One of the key standouts from the collection is the Ursula Waxed Jacket, which draws its inspiration from the Barbour Ursula Suit that was created for a submarine officer Captain George Phillips in 1939. The update features a waxed cotton construction and is lined with an insulated Thermore wadding and styled with a corduroy collar and detachable hood making it perfect for the great outdoors.

In addition Norse Projects has reimagined Barbour’s 1960’s Game Fair jacket to create the North Seas Parker jacket. The parker is detailed with 3 outer pockets and a small logo embroidered on the pocket to keep things smart and subtle. Like the Ursula, the Parker is also waxed and features an insulated Thermore wadding to keep you warm throughout the autumn and winter months.
