Evolution & Innovation
If you’ve read our recent piece on The History of Belstaff, you’ll know that the British-born brand is steeped in history. From performance-primed pieces for motorsport, aviation and adventurers to top-tier technical apparel for the modern man’s wardrobe. The evolution of this iconic brand has been nothing short of special and it has not stopped yet. In fact, it is just getting started.
The Autumn Winter 22 collection is packed full of exciting colours, revolutionised silhouettes and brand new additions to the offering. Of course, you can expect to find the classic Belstaff Wax Jackets, Belstaff t-shirts and Belstaff sweatshirts you already adore but in addition, you will also find season-spanning denim, supremely wearable mixed-media knitwear and the shoulder-season-starlet, the tactical overshirt in vivid new hues. Not to mention, the eye-catching new range; Wave Dye. Somewhat reminiscent of a tie dye look, this brand new range has an interesting story and a typically Belstaff inspiration.
The Old Inspiring The New
When Belstaff designers were digging back through their rich archives, they started to notice a repeat pattern – literally. The Belstaff Waxed Cotton Jackets and Leather Jackets that the brand is famous for require maintenance by the wearer. A regular clean and wax meant that the jacket could be worn again and again, year after year. The individuality of the jacket became more and more pronounced as the colour faded more in areas of friction and use and less so in others. The designers noticed that a Belstaff Trialmaster which left the stores as a perfect rich black would, over time, become textured and patinated. A completely unique jacket, individual to its owner. An idea sparked.
A New Wave
The varying textures and tones of the maturing fabric was said to have reminded designers of the ebb and undulating tides of the oceans, giving the range it’s name; Wave Dye. The special dying technique used means that each piece is completely unique, just like those archived Belstaff Jackets. Woodhouse’s Wave Dye range includes caps, t-shirts, overshirts, knitwear and of course, jackets. We have three key colours to choose from; a bold blue, cool silver-grey and soft sea green.
Any of these would make a serious winter-worthy statement but a Woodhouse-favourite is the Radar Jacket in the ocean blue. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter then the Old Silver Tactical Overshirt is the way to go. As with any statement piece, we recommend keeping the rest of your look pretty toned down to let the Wave Dye do the talking. If you like things a little more subtle then the cap could be the perfect way to add a little colour into your new looks or try the t-shirt under a muted overshirt to give just a touch of intrigue. However you choose to wear it, the Belstaff Wave Dye collection is the perfect look for the new season.
