WHY WE LOVE STONE ISLAND – THEN & NOW
To coincide with the launch of the 30th anniversary Stone Island website that celebrates 30 years of style and substance, we wanted to share with you the many reasons why Woodhouse love this brand.
For a clothing label to be truly iconic it must transcend fashion and cater to the changing trends whilst still reinforcing their core beliefs and mission statement. Born in 1982, Stone Island set out with this clarity and direction as the spearhead of their operations.
Known universally for their unrivalled dedication to fabric research, manipulation, experimentation and longevity, the very same brand that was once known primarily for dressing the generations of football fans on the terraces, has now metamorphosed into arguably one of the most sought after and highly respected brands of the world, adopting a style, look and attitude that sets it aside from its rivals.
Notably, creator and innovator Carlo Rivetti has steered this ship from the word go, with an unwavered sense of exploration and intrigue that has not only led to stretching the boundaries of fabric resilience and application, but has also consistently pushed the buttons of the fashion world, from fashionistas through to the high street. Some of the most iconic styles of outerwear today echo the very same principles that were laid out at an early stage by this ever innovative design machine, proving that this brand has, and will continually survive the test of time.
CARLO RIVETTI REVEALS THE PROJECTS OF THE STONE ISLAND 30TH ANNIVERSARY
In light of their 30th Year of design, production & trading, Stone Island continued to impress by unveiling their large scale 200-piece retrospective collection at a highly influential menswear EXPO Pitti Uomo in Florence towards the end of 2012, one of the cornerstones of Stone Island heritage.
Over the years, and numerous collaborations between some of the most illustrious menswear designers from Simon Foxton through to i-D’s Elgar Johnson, Carlo Rivetti has been able to design, develop, design again and then produce some of the highest quality and anatomically focused pieces that meet the desires of even the most loyal Stone Island menswear follower, rarely (if ever) failing.
It’s their collective commitment to product, both in raw fabric form, processes, detail and finish that really sets this brand alight in the ever competitive world of mens fashion, particularly outerwear. We can only hope that this passion for product continues to live on through the years to provide the Stone Island connoisseur with slice after slice of Stone Island history and innovation.
Woodhouse are extremely proud to be able to say that we stock a formidable range of Stone Island product, from jumpers, denim, tees right through to knitwear, accessories and directional jackets. To this day, Stone Island consistently proves to be one of our most favoured and successful hero brands.
Here’s to a very special 30 years of all-conquering class, cheers!
