Whether you happen to be a boxing fan or not there’s a certain fight in the pipeline that is becoming almost impossible to ignore. With that in mind we thought we’d give you a quick run down on the all important details.

This Saturday Floyd Mayweather takes on Manny Pacquiao in a contest that has been billed as “The Fight of the Century”. It is also said to be the richest in history, set in spectacular fashion on the world wide stage of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

If we’re going to talk revenue then this has to be one of the biggest earners of all time with a live gate of at least  £48.7m (tickets re-selling for more than £100,000) and pay-per-view revenue expected to be in the region of £250m.We don’t know about you but with rumours flying that the fighters are due to come out with around £200 million between them (for just under an hours work) it’s got us starting to think we might be in the wrong business.

Mayweather is undoubtedly the marmite of the boxing world whilst Pacquiao is laid back, polite and an all round nice guy. It’s a complete clash of personalities, good guy versus bad, meaning that this is a fight that will still be talked about in years to come, think “Rumble In the Jungle” style.

There has been comment in recent weeks that this fight is long overdue and that both fighters may be past their best but regardless of that it’s one of the sporting events of our generation. Stats wise these guys can’t be touched, Mayweather is now unbeaten in 47 fights while Pacquiao has a record of 57 wins.

This battle has been billed to go the distance with one of the two fighters inevitably winning on points. Although Mayweather is favourite with the bookies it’s certainly not an easy call and regardless of what happens on the night it’s most definitely a must watch whether you’re a boxing fan or not.
