Record Store Day is one of the biggest annual events in the music calendar and has been dubbed as the single best thing that has happened for independent record stores. Founded in 2007, the event brings together lovers of vinyl, artists, music fans and stores to celebrate the culture of independently owned record shops, with over 200 stores across the UK participating as well as thousands more worldwide.

Many partaking stores host artist performances and events to mark the occasion and on top of this, musicians and labels from across the globe give us the chance to get our hands on exclusive releases which are pressed specifically for Record Store Day, with most only being available in limited numbers. THE SMITHS – THE BOY WITH THE THORN IN HIS
7″ Black vinyl featuring a previously unreleased demo version of The Smiths’ 1985 single ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ as well as an early Drone Studios version of the single’s original B-side ‘Rubber Ring’.

BASTILLE – COMFORT OF STRANGERS
7″ Vinyl housed in a limited edition mirror board case featuring a completely unreleased demo track ‘Comfort Of Strangers’, with a live performance of ‘Warmth’ recorded at Capital Studios in LA on it’s B-side.

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS – C-H-E-M-I-C-A-L
An exclusive 12″ black etched vinyl in a spined sleeve, featuring The Chemical Brothers’ standalone single ‘C-H-E-M-I-C-A-L’, which was released late last year as the duo’s newest material since their eighth album ‘Born In The Echoes’.

LOU REED – PERFECT NIGHT: LIVE IN LONDON
Perfect Night: Live In London is a live acoustic album which was recorded at Meltdown Festival in 1997. The album, which is pressed on to two 12″ black vinyl’s includes a version of the Velvet Underground’s ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’.

A selection of pre-1980 singles by The Ramones which have been pressed on to ten 7″ vinyls, all individually stamped and numbered in 7×7 inner sleeves and packaged in a unique cigarette-style box.

THE CRIBS – MEN’S NEEDS, WOMEN’S NEEDS, WHATEVER
To mark the 10 year anniversary of The Cribs’ critically-acclaimed third album ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Watever’, the Wakefield trio have recently announced details of a special UK anniversary tour and on top of this, will be releasing this 10th anniversary edition of the album which will be pressed on to a gold vinyl for Record Store Day.

THE STOOGES – HEAVY LIQUID
Heavy Liquid is an album that is made up of studio recordings from rehearsals and sessions for Raw Power, The Stooges’ third album. This special edition will be pressed on to 2 blue vinyls in a silver mirrorboard sleeve and will include in-studio photography taken in 1972 by legendary photographer Mick Rock.

PRINCE – LITTLE RED CORVET
Prince’s 1983 single ‘Little Red Corvette’ with it’s original B-side ‘1999’ has been out of print since 1995. The single will be re-released exclusively for Record Store Day on a 7″ picture disc alongside some of the music legend’s other tracks, including ‘Sign ‘O’ The Times’ and ‘I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man’.

PINK FLOYD – LONDON 1966/1967
London 1966/1967 features the first ever studio recordings from the original 1960’s Pink Floyd line-up, with two extremely rare performances including an explosive 17 minute version of ‘Interstellar Overdrive’. This exclusive Record Store Day release will be pressed on to a 12″ picture disc and be limited to 2,000 copies worldwide.

VARIOUS ARTISTS – GREATER MANCHESTER PUNK VOL 2
Greater Manchester Punk is a compilation album made up of rare and unreleased punk and post-punk gems from the cellars of Greater Manchester. All of the tracks featured on this album were recorded between 1978-1982 by some of the lesser known bands who were a part of Manchester’s music scene of the time.
