What a night!

Over the weekend we held a little soirée in the heart of Notting Hill to celebrate the re-launch of our London store, and it turned out to be quite the party.

Gavin Crossland, our very own master of ceremonies, laid on an incredible spread that attracted some well-known faces as well as swathe of Notting Hill’s illustrious glitterati. With catering provided by local restaurant Ottolenghi, guests were welcomed with mountains of delicious canapés and enough champagne to make Oliver Reed a little bit wobbly.

Inside they found a small stage and local hit band Starlings frontman, Justin Robson, serenading the room with an acoustic set. The music would set the vibe for the evening as the guests filtered in through the freshly painted front door into our fully refurbished shop.

Just like any other party, we sent out our invites and hoped for a good turnout on the night. It turned out to be even better than we could have hoped as reps from Hugo Boss, Paul and Shark, Fred Perry, Replay and more were all in attendance. Perhaps curiosity got the best of them. Perhaps it was the free booze. We may never know.

We’re always on the lookout for exciting new stock so having all the company reps in the same room was an interesting experience to say the least. Gavin kept himself sober enough to canvas offers from suppliers new and old. Although we can’t reveal too much just yet, let’s say that the Autumn range will be one to remember.

As they say, the show must go on, and as the sun began to set we changed gears by bringing in ex Ministry of Sound CEO and renowned DJ Matt Jagger to play an incredible electro set that had everyone moving.

The main event was a raffle with some really awesome prizes. Triple figure shopping sprees graced the prize pool, as well as a slap up meal from local Aussie chef Bill Granger, who’s restaurant Granger and Co is a mere stones-throw from the Woodhouse store. Bill’s casual approach to all day dining with an Aussie twist has become a regular treat for many Notting Hill residents, and is proving itself to be a winner with visitors time and time again.

The rest of the night went off without a hitch. People mingled. Shop staff spoke to models, models spoke to suppliers, suppliers spoke to shop staff, and as the night drew to a close we had a chance to catch up with Gavin and ask him for a few pointers for this season;

What is your favourite brand this season?

That’s a tough one! I’d have to say Folk. The colours and fabrics are great and it’s a really good fit.

And your best purchase this season?

Calabrese shorts! They’re perfect for this hot weather, and they dry really quickly

What would you say your worst ever purchase was? Be honest!

Hmm. I can’t think of anything off the top of my head but I do know of somebody who once purchased a pair of Jeffrey West Crocodile Skin Boots…….it was our MD

[laughs] OK, enough said! Finally, what are your priorities for the store going forward? What can people expect from the Woodhouse Store?
We’re really determined to make sure the brand philosophy of providing top quality and service is maintained, and to make sure absolutely everybody receives a warm welcome!
The Woodhouse stores’ stock is, perhaps, a bit more directional than the wider range of clothing available online, and certain brands including Ralph Lauren, Adriano Goldscheid, and Levi’s Made & Crafted are stocked exclusively. With our one-on-one style advice we endeavour to ensure each of our customers takes away the key pieces that are right for them this season.

Same time next year?
