The Tour De France is now the most popular cycling event in world, being viewed by millions of people each year. This years event kicks off today and is set up to be one of the best to date.

This will be the 102nd event and will be held outside of France for only the 21st time in history kicking off in Utrecht, Netherlands. Last year saw popularity for the event and sport itself boom with every man and his dog now fancying themselves as the next Bradley Wiggins. The event exceeded expectations last year when it was held in the UK. Unfortunately the performance of the Sky Team was disappointing – are they going to step it up this year? 10 Britons are set to be featuring in the 2015 event including 2013 winner Chris Froome.

Our E-commerce director Dane is a keen cyclist and here’s what he has to say about this years Tour de France:

“After the fever created by last year’s Grande Depart from Yorkshire, I’m
really looking forward to this years Tour. Despite there being no Bradley
to cheer on – there is plenty of UK interest. Team Sky will be putting out a
typically strong squad built around 2013 winner Chris Froome who is in
great form. The Manx Missile, Mark Cavendish has more stage wins than any
other rider and with will no doubt add to this tally on the sprint stages.
However, if I had to put money on anyone winning, it would be Nairo
Quintana of Colombia and anyone who gets to the finish line in Paris
deserves a shout of ‘Chapeau’.”

With the seven-time Olympic medallist, Sir Bradley Wiggins sitting it out again this year sticking to time trials following his huge success in June smashing Alex Dowsett’s hour record. His classic Fred Perry collection is in its 7th season and is a must have for any cycling fans out there, reflecting 1950/60s cycling wear.
